Farmville’s Parks & Recreation and Public Library departments are excited to introduce the “Farmville Moves” program as a way to promote health and wellness in a supportive group setting. This nine-week series serves not only as a lead up to the Town of Farmville’s 5th annual 5k & Fun Run on May 11, but also encourages individuals to begin or continue their walking, jogging or running journey.
The free “Farmville Moves” program will occur each Monday and Wednesday from March 11 to May 8, and will be held at the Town of Farmville’s baseball complex on Ryon Drive from 5:30 to 6 pm. Participants will enjoy having access to the track that runs the perimeter of the baseball complex, as well as walking, jogging or running in a group from the baseball complex to Oliver Murphrey Park and back, or additional routes through nearby neighborhoods. In addition to exercise, health and wellness professionals will attend occasional sessions to provide short talks about staying healthy and exercising safely. Health and exercise books from the library will also be available for checkout at each event. All experience levels and age groups are encouraged to attend.
